CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – With Lonnie Chisenhall going on DL after getting hit in the forearm last night, the team has decided to call backup to the Major League roster Jason Donald.
Donald has spent time with the Indians this season, playing in 16 games with 45 at-bats, hitting just .178.
Chisenhall was hurt after getting hit by a pitch in the Indians 9-8 loss to the Orioles.
He will have surgery on the arm and miss 4 to 6 weeks of action. “We had a bad feeling when the ball got him pretty good, pretty square,” Indians manager Manny Acta said. “The sound of it wasn’t good. It’s not good news, especially for the kid.”
In 24 games with the Indians in 2012, 23-year-old Chisenhall hit .278 (20-for-72) with three home runs and nine RBI.
