Perfection in Sports (Part 2)


It has been many days since Matt Cain pitched a perfect game.  Much has been written about his historic feat, and I loved reading every one of them.  I am such a fan of the San Francisco Giants and of pitching in general that this “perfecto” has made my year.  Then the Giants went on an amazing run, as if the other four starting pitchers on the team said they too can put up zeros.  Barry Zito led the Giants to an 8-0 shut-out, followed by Ryan Vogelsong 2-0, Tim Lincecum 3-0, and finally a one-hit awesome complete game performance by Madison Bumgarner, who won 5-0.

Then the perfect irony of sports came into play the very next day.  Matt Cain was up next on the rotation, it was his turn to continue the scoreless streak.  Who better than Mr Perfecto, right?  Cain’s very first pitch went over the fence…
