CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians are sending two players to represent the American League in the All-Star game next Tuesday, but a lot of Tribe fans felt 2B Jason Kipnis and relief pitcher Vinnie Pestano could have made the squad.
Monday before the Indians homestand opener against the Angels, manager Manny Acta was asked about both when it came to them getting snubbed from the All-Star game.
Acta said that Kipnis not getting selected to the game wasn’t too shocking due to the fact the AL has a number of good second basemen.
“I wasn’t completely surprised, as we have mentioned before you can only have so many guys, and the American League has so many second basemen,” Acta said. “You usually just go by numbers, and he has the numbers to be in the All-Star game.
