Get to Know Joe Donato, Indians Bat Boy


Indians bat boy Joe Donato is majoring in psychology at Bowling Green State University. TribeVibe recently caught up with Joe to discuss his duties as a Major League bat boy.

TribeVibe: What sports have you played?
Joe Donato: I played catcher and second base in baseball, and for football, I played running back and safety.

TV: Describe a typical day as a bat boy.
JD: I’ll get here around 4 p.m. and do batting practice — shag the balls and work with the coaches to make sure they get all the balls that they need. Then I’ll set up for the game. Come game time, I am in charge of making sure the players have their bats and anything they might need during the game. After the game, we clean up.
