It has been a magical season for the New York Mets (45-38) featuring a ton of heart, grid and clutch moments the Kids from Queens was able to capture a vital 6-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies (37-47) in Thursday night baseballaction.
One of the trends for the guys thus far has been the two out hits, including some of the most clutch hitting seen in Queens in quite some time. With Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon it was the patience of the Mets that earned them a great first half victory.
Ike Davis began the frame with a double of the Phillies closer, two batters later Jordany Valdespin was hit before one of the biggest at-bats by Ruben Tejada came to help New York load the bases. Tejada taking some serious heat from Papelbon did not back down and instead calmly took his base.
