Marlins trade for Carlos Lee

The Miami Marlins acquired veteran OF Carlos Lee from the Houston Astros in exchange for 3B Matt Dominguez and left hand pitcher Rob Rasmussen.

The trade reunites Manager Ozzie Guillen and Lee, who played under Guillen for the Chicago White Sox for 1 season.

Lee (also known as “El Caballo”) has played 13 MLB seasons starting out with the Chicago White Sox, then playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros for 5 plus seasons.  Lee is a career .286 hitter with 354 homeruns and 1315 RBI and is batting .287 this season with just 5 homeruns and 29 RBI.

The Marlins hope that Lee’s bat can help them get back into the race for the playoffs as they currently sit 9 games back in the division and 5 games back of the wild card.  Opening day starter at 1B Gaby Sanchez was demoted early this season…
